Steve’s practice focuses on environmental and commercial litigation. Environmental litigation includes cleanup and cost recovery actions under state and federal superfund law, defending natural resource damages claims, and assisting clients resolve stormwater and wetlands issues. Steve also assists clients in obtaining insurance coverage for contaminated properties, and negotiating indemnity and cleanup agreements as part of real estate transactions involving contaminated properties.
Commercial litigation includes representing clients in a variety of contractual disputes, including real estate contracts, property management agreements, telecommunication contracts, patent agreements, and promissory notes and other loan agreements.
Steve is a former Chairman of the American Bar Association Committee on Superfund and Natural Resource Damages Litigation. He is also a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of General Contractors of Washington. He has been named to the “League of Justice” by Washington CEO Magazine as one of “Washington’s Most Amazing Attorneys”, is listed as a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics Magazine, and is listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” under “Environmental Law”. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and was an oralist in the moot court finals for Harvard Law School. He clerked for the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly, United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
